Reality Fitness Center Uses Computerized Personal Training to Get Women in Shape

(02/15/06) No, it didn't happen in Boston, or New York, or LA , or anyplace you would expect a new fitness trend to find its start. Reality Fitness in Morgantown, West Virginia, is one of the first clubs to install the MYTRAK personal coaching system for exercise machines -- a simple biofeedback system that merely requires the exerciser to push at the appropriate intensity to keep the display lights green. It is forecasted that this revolutionary system will soon be as common to health clubs as treadmills are today.

Press Release:

February 15, 2006 Morgantown, WV -- Tammy Cole and her mother have a passion for women's wellness and decided to open their own state-of-the-art fitness facility in Morgantown, West Virginia. The club opened in May of 2005 and they have about 150 members at present. A key decision was to remain independent and not go the franchise route so that they can offer truly advanced amenities to their members such as child care and MYTRAK.

According to Cole, "We looked at the franchises, but decided against them. None of them offered child care and It's very important to offer that. We have a lot of professional women that are working moms coming to our club."

She went on to say, "I also encourage my ladies to come as often as they like and to stay as often as they like. The kind of equipment that we have, allows them to do just that. We have elliptical trainers and recumbent bikes. Our cardio portion is built right into our circuit. "

In keeping with being on the leading edge, most recently Cole and her mother installed the MYTRAK success coach system on their hydraulic machines. Blazing the innovative trail, she is an early adopter of this amazing technology, trumping even the big gyms of Boston, New York and Los Angeles.

MYTRAK is an intelligent personal coach that is attached to each piece of hydraulic equipment. This technology keeps the exerciser in their fitness zone and records heart rate, reps, and levels of exertion. The device is so user- friendly, exercisers, from beginners to elite athletes merely have to work hard enough to keep the display lights green.

Cole explained, "MYTRAK will help our members succeed and achieve their goals. Before MYTRAK they would come in and have more of a social thing, than a workout. We want them to have a feedback and recording system because we believe this makes them accountable, and it makes them work harder. But most of all, we like our ladies to have the personal training effect that it gives."

MYTRAK is the brainchild of Reed Hanoun, a Toronto fitness and medical device entrepreneur who has been in the health club and medical field for 20 years. According to Hanoun, “MYTRAK provides ‘hidden information’ about the member's progress which motivates them to keep on going.”

With MYTRAK, exercisers can literally see a representation of their body type on a screen and all the progress they have made, even if it’s not yet visible on the outside. Hanoun went on to say, “In the early stages of exercise, all physical improvements occur from the inside out; changes such as cardiovascular improvement, their ability to exert energy, or perhaps in their flexibility, for sure in their range of motion. MYTRAK gives them a really clear objective analysis and snapshot of those improvements right from the start.”

I have to say I am very proud of Tammy Cole (my step-sister) We haven't had the best relationship in the past few years, but I see that she only wants the best for herself and other women married or single with children.
